Welcome to the new Purple Dragons Castle!5/14/2008 - Slow Reboot Slowly working on rebuilding winternight.net, yes I know it's been almost a year and a half since I've updated... but anyway... more to come soon
Mood: Depressed Listening: MSNBC news
1/8/2008 - First Update of the year! So Winternight.net has been moved to hosting, as well as Chocolatecoveredfrenchfries.com as well as the added subdomains of Syn.winternight.net and T3E.winternight.net, Syndelin and The Third Ends xbox data respectively... expect to see upcoming changes to the site as I can now change stuff to be database and php driven ^_^
Mood: Tired Listening: Some show on the SC channel
8/18/2007 - Finnish invasion!! I just noticed that within in a months time starting mid next month two of my favorite Finnish bands are playing here in the states (Sonata Arctica and Nightwish), I want to group Within Temptation with them but they're Netherlands; but unlike the other two it's their first US headlining tour... check it out if you get a chance, you won't be sorry.
Another gamercard created by yours truly... with a countdown to when Cradle will be playing columbus next. Next GC I'm creating will be a cross between GWAR and Cradle to commemorate them being in the same show with the upcoming "Viva LaBands" tour. A few of Bam Mageras favorite bands together... friggin' sweet!!
Mood: Tired Listening: Shadows Fall
7/27/2007 - Concerts2! So last month seemed to be a busy month for concerts... This Fires Embrace, Buckcherry at the Blitz Bash, Violent Femmes, and The Sounds of the Underground (no pics for this one as cameras were taken away at the gates; was fucking AWESOME though =P), so it looks like we get a month off, and then its back to being busy in Sept, though this time unfortunately the concerts are all going to be in Cleveland... ick... Sonata Arctica and Within Temptation in particular; need to get my car running and stable =P Anyway to honor the great GWAR, I made a livecard... enjoy, use if you wish mwaha just replace your gamertag with mine and your good to go ^_^
Mood: Pissy Listening: Sonata Arctica
7/16/2007 - Concerts! Seen the Violent Femmes last week (no pics, they sucked from my phone... night and all) and we've got the Sounds of the Underground this upcoming Sunday... like... yeah... OMFG... GWAR!! I FINALLY GET TO SEE GWAR!! *PANT PANT* ok... panic attack over... anyway; GWAR, Shadows Fall, Mushroomhead and more! (thats all I care about though) this sunday at the LC (Downtown Columbus), come, mosh... be happy/bloody! But unfortunately it seems like its going to be hell at work this week, after being so busy last week I couln't think straight =P, need vacation!
Mood: Tired Listening: Stargate Atlantis
7/06/2007 - Changes and Updates Made some changes to Winternight.net today, mainly the fact that there is no longer a cover page... when you hit http://www.winternight.net you'll come directly to here "Purple Dragons Castle", I don't really make to many changes to stuff to have the site need its own blog... just here =P so welcome! Of course its set up so you can still hit /pdc/ as a directory, but its not there anymore, just a redirect here.
Mood: Needing caffeine Listening: 3 Inches of Blood - Fire Up the Blades
7/01/2007 - Blitz Bash Hit the Blitz Bash yesterday, was pretty cool... first time I had been to "Promo West" as it was called, now "Lifestyle Community Pavilion" or something like that... the "LC". Anyway it was the Blitz birthday bash, and we were there mainly to support Aaron and the guys of This Fires Embrace but also got to check out Drowning Pool, Saliva, Exies and Buck Cherry as well as some other local talent. Which after what I heard about Thirty Ought Six or whatever... they suck; musically and in life. Sorry prisses, but This Fires Embrace had more ppl in the crowd than you did... HAH! Anyway, enough with the rant, and MORE WITH THE PICS!
Mood: Tired Listening: My Ears Ringing
6/24/2007 - Flyleaf Check out the pics that Syn took of the flyleaf concert Here!
Mood: Tired Listening: 3 Inches of Blood
6/16/2007 - Additions 1+1 = eleven-teen?? no not that type of addition... I've added my bro Jesse and his wife, Amie to my little family of xbox data pages. And again, thank 360voice.com for the data ^_^.
Mood: Tired Listening: Fans
6/15/2007 - 360voice car Up on the front page of 360voice again (how I enjoy being up on other peoples sites *glee*). Spent a couple hours Thursday creating a design for a car in Forza Motorsport 2... not the greatest design (I've seem some WICKED ones out of the first game... I can only imagine what will come from this one)
Mood: Tired Listening: Shadows Fall
6/12/2007 - Buyout! Waking up to the news that the company you work for has been bought out... [sarcasm]GREATEST FEELING IN THE WORLD![/sarcasm]. [ESPN Link to the story] So Americatab is now owned by Churchill... good news... jobs safe for the moment... bad news... the jobs safe for the moment. Guess we'll have to see where this goes ^_^
Mood: =( Listening: me panicking!
6/8/2007 - I'm weak So... yeah one week later I buy an Elite X_x I'm weak... whatever
Mood: Weak Listening: The sound of my wallet whimpering... ?
6/3/2007 - Death of a Loved one pt.3 Well today I had another 360 die on me... really bad timing, was trying to get my best friend to get one =P at least it waited until after he left before it crapped out hahaha... anyway, I recased the system to help cool it down... so warranty voided... blahblah.. boned again... the next one will not be tampered with!!
Mood: blah Listening: blah
5/15/2007 - Updates Was bored so I did a layout overhaul on the xbox pages, getting rid of the tiles that your use to seeing on my blogs... they were much to time consuming being that they had to be manually seperated daily, and the fact that at some point I want to make the xbox pages an open API for anyone to put in their Gamertag and be able to see it. Anyway, go check it out... I'm happy with the layout for the time being =P if you don't like it (and the gamertag belongs to you) email me with suggestions (cormyreATgmail.com).Mine, Amanda, Jeremiah, Ariel, Warren.
Mood: Accomplished Listening: Shadows Fall: Threads of Life
5/10/2007 - Say cheese! As promised here's pics from the last few concerts I've been to... these are rough cuts, not as refined as I plan on getting them, but just to get them out there....
??/??/???? - Newport Music Hall, Columbus OH - Cradle of Filth, 69 Eyes, 3 Inches of Blood 5/7/2007 - Headliners Music Hall, Luisville KY - Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, In This Moment, Stolen Babies
They aren't the best shots but I plan on getting a new camera soon for concerts to fix that problem =P
Mood: Annoyed Listening: Dimmu Borgir: In Sorte Diaboli
5/8/2007 - HUH? WHAT?! Last night was the Lacuna Coil / Within Temptation concert. What I didn't realize is that this was Within Temptations first US tour, they seemed really surprised that the crowd knew who they were, and more than that... were singing the songs with them! Insanity! I think over a quarter of the crowd was there just to see them, as after they took off the stage we got to move to the rails =P lots cleared out. Not saying I don't love Lacuna Coil... but frankly I could've caught them anywhere else, me like a bunch of others were just there for Within Temptation... even heard a few of the guys talking about taking a bus from South Carolina to the concert (Luisville, KY).
The opening bands were ok... I had heard of "In This Moment" before as they've had some exposure on MTV2's "Headbangers Ball" (which reminds me I need to figure out why my DVR stopped recording that show) but I knew they wouldn't be anything to spectacular. Stolen Babies I hadn't heard of before... they were interesting, had a unique sound being that the lead singer chick was playing an accordion and man could she growl. I'll be keeping an eye on them for the future.
But back to Within Temptation, they put on one hell of a show even if they were surprised by the positive response. Once again... back to the old "Internet is bad for music"; without the internet, they probably would have gotten the exact response that they seemed to have expected, no-one knowing who they were and not knowing their songs. Anyway, I am SOOO suggesting people to catch this tour before it ends in July! Lacuna Coil and Within Temptation both put on one great fuggin show, will have an update with pics soon.
Mood:Tired Listening: Within Temptation
4/29/2007 - FREEBIRD!! mwahahaha! Finally finished Guitar Hero on Expert... after playing since November... yeah small announcement... but I'm stoked =P eat me! Now to figure out what the bigger challenge will be.. beating the game and 5-staring every song on easy... or 5-staring every song on hard/expert... both have their own challenges... though the one on easy will be NOT FALLING ASLEEP!
Mood: Giddy Listening: Something on GH2
4/23/2007 - The previous week in gaming history...? Two games down this week, though I've mentioned one before; Gun. With Gun if we remember a month or so back I said I didn't know if I'd play it through again 4 times for a measly 110 AP more. Well Jeremiah was doing some checking and there's a hidden "New Game +" type of deal but its worse, basically you can jump to any checkpoint in any chapter... being that I beat the game on extreme the first time through I don't feel a need to defend myself by using this way to get the last 4 acheivements, the few games I've played lately have it right with difficulty level achievements; instead of having you play through the game over and over again they stack them, meaning that if you beat it on extreme, you also get the achievement for easy, medium and hard. I did EVERYTHING on my first game on the extreme difficulty, so blah games over, done with and to be sold =P. Next is Viva Piņata... yeah its a kids game, all cutesy and stuff... but man it has a sadistic feel to it at times, from inbreeding the pinata to smashing others with a shovel. Think it has hidden messages in the game though... it sucked me in there for a couple of weeks, wanted to play it ALL the time! Game was OK, steer clear of the cartoon, controls were ass, story was incomplete but thats probably due to the cartoon, but its a fun little diversion for a little while, especially if you have a thing for checklists, gotta' get them all filled!! Also this previous week in gaming history: I got past Freya on extreme... HAH! SUCK ON THAT YOU FRIGGIN SONG!! I'VE ONLY BEEN STUCK ON YOU SINCE DECEMBER! SUCK IT DRY!!!.... next obsticle on the 360 version though is Iron Maidens "The Trooper" and Reverend Horton Heats "Psychobilly Freakout" man... trooper I can make it most of the way through... psychobilly? Nuts... put to shame by an 8yr old kid on YouTube I guess =P
Mood: Tired Listening: Fans on my PC
4/14/2007 - H@xorz!! Had an interesting call last night from a friend, having an issue with her MySpace page... evidently no matter what link you clicked on while on her profile it took you to a login screen. I clicked once... got there... went "WTF" hit back... and then noticed that her WHOLE PAGE was one gigantoise link =P the hackers that got her account info (probably from a friend of hers having the same issue) not only sent out a bunch of bullitens and friend comments and crap when they hacked.. no they put a transparent image over the whole page linked to their fake login to further the accounts they had access to. Was one of the more novel things I've seen people do in MySpace. Just figured I would share. If your experiencing this issue, edit your profile, and look for code you didn't put in, normally in your books section, delete it, save and then you should be good. Also you should probably let your friends know that they may want to change their passwords especially if they had to login from your page.
And the moral of the story is this: NEVER log into myspace from any other point than the main page http://www.myspace.com . If it asks you to login anywhere else, just type in the address and start from the main login screen, or be h@X3d!
Mood: Ammused Listening: Therion - Gothic Kabalah
4/7/2007 - Resident to the Isles of Madness So I finished out Oblivon and the Shivering Isles expansion today. For those of you who played Oblivion and were a little offish about the expansion, it is well worth the price, the Isles are about 25% the size of Cyrodil and the experience is alot more fun then the whole of the original content. 2 new armor sets that are slightly above glass and daedric, 20+ new alchemy components, a handfull of new enemy types, and roughly 30+ hours of main story gameplay but of course the residents have a slew of quests for you as well =P. Deffinately get it if you enjoyed Oblivion.
Mood: It took me 77 days playing Oblivon?! Listening: The sound of disbelief
4/4/2007 - WTMF!? Guitar Hero II hit store shelves today for the 360... but what the hell?! Big ol' xbox live logo on the box... which generally means online multi-player (even the description in the instruction manual says thats what Live! is) but there's a catch, the only thing that the game does on Live! is downloading new songs (which you'll be able to purchase at some point) and world leaderboards. That sucks big ol' monkey nuts! I was looking forward to this version because I have no one of "Extreme" class to play with... and some of the coop achievements will take two good "Extreme" players... 1mil points! If you have the PS2 version.. your just getting new songs, unless your an achievement whore (like me) you can pass it up. 360 peeps that haven't played it or don't have it on the PS2, this game is kinda a must have... no more need for air guitars!
Mood: Grumpy Listening: GHII Credits (for an achievement =P)
4/1/2007 - Kick ass! So last night was the "Lyrical Visions" show at C.B.R.'s, got to see some great local talent as well as "This Fires Embrace" again which is always awesome, more when I get the pics back =P
Mood: Tired Listening: This Fires Embrace
3/29/2007 - Charity... I do charity? If it means I get a GH2 challenge, YES! Was at Wals-Mart the other day and noticed that they're holding a Guitar Hero 2 competition on the 2nd... how can I pass up? $10 to enter for charity... and I think they're holding a blood drive the same day... maybe I should donate some blood to give the rest of the entrants a chance? =P EDIT (4/3): forgot to list the date =P 4/3, yeah it was in my schedule... but who looks over there? Edit: "Your 7 minutes late, we don't want your money for charity.. NYEA!" so yeah... fuck you Wal-Mart, shut me out of the contest... *muttermuttermutter*
Mood: WHEEEL Listening: Type O Negative - Dead Again
3/28/2007 - Gaming Day aka: Gunned down! Spent the last few days flying through the achievements for gun, as I figured once you got towards the end of the game they'd stary rolling in... played it on "Insane" the first play through, and managed to rack up 890 of 1000 points... the rest are wrapped up in 4 achievements for the easier difficulties... to play or not.. hrm... would be nice to have that gold star =P. Also worked on Oblivion to finish the original achievements for the game, in preperation for the "Shivering Isles" expansion. But back to gun, I would suggest playing through the game at least the first time on an easier difficulty than Insane... basically to hits and your dead, there were quite a few points I was ready to throw the controller through the TV =P no good. But the bulk of the achievements are completing all the side quests and most can be simple since they require no specific difficulty level.
3/9/2007 - Gaming Day (1500+ / 1500) aka: You got graw'd! -FINALLY- finished the Old Spice challenge, beat GRAW 2 like a bitch to get the last points needed =P. Thankfully they took the hint from Gears on this game and stacked the difficulty acheivements (if you beat it on hard you got the hard/medium/easy acheivements instead of having to play through it 3 times), but unfortunately even "Elevated Risk" (hard) was easy... way easier than the first game, didn't die once on the "Gun Ride" (helicopter) stages, when that was one of my greatest weaknesses in the first game, now I'm on to the other single player acheivements and then to some multiplayer mayhem... mwahaha
Mood: Tired Listening: Therion - Gothic Kabalah
2/25/2007 - Gaming Day (1019 / 1500) aka: Cracking down So it took roughly two days to do but finished the storyline of crackdown, pretty fun game if you like sandbox games (GTA, Saints Row, etc). Easily gaining the stat achievements (I like killing what can I say?) 'cept for the driving ones.... I found the driving mechanic to be to sloppy to use so I ended up bounding from rooftop to rooftop instead, which can often lead to interesting assassination opertunities with the bosses of the game. Was Crackdown more then a Halo 3 beta "pack in"? Yeah I found it a bit fun, not the greatest, but not bad enough to be dismissed. So close to the rewards goal I can taste it, though now it kinda tastes like crap being that the level 3 prizes are gone (shirt and retail game).
In other news, I added two new xbox stat pages for co-workers, Ariel and Warren
Mood: Accomplished Listening: Within Temptation
2/16/2007 - Gaming Day (234 / 1500) aka: Saving Clyde! Spent the whole day yesterday racking up points, trying to dodge games that are overly easy to rack up points on. So I finished (mastered) Cloning Clyde (XBLA). Sooo... 1,2xx left to go for the Old Spice Challenge.
Mood: Tired Listening: Theatre of Tragedy - Storm
2/15/2007 - Completed: Last will and testament I leave everything I own to Jerimiah and if your reading this Amanda killed me! Yeah so I finally was able to get what I had planned for her V day present... a 30GB iPOD =P now the test will be if I die or not... mwahaha. Now the waiting game till she gets off of work!
And I still want to shoe the dumbass as Best Buy who just about swore on something that a 60GB iPOD didn't exist in the nuts! Don't argue with me! I know ALL!!!
Mood: Giddy Listening: The sound of my impending doom =P
2/14/2007 - I GOT SHOT IN THE ASS! ...by cupids arrow =P So this is the first year I've ever been with anyone for V day, quite interesting. Thanks to the snow storm I wasn't able to get Amanda what I had planned, but soon enough, a day late as always I guess. Hehe, she got me a dragon bracelet (pics soon?) and a dragon incense burner (cone) and actually tracked down my favorite formula of "Dragons Blood" to burn in it... YEEE! Though I have felt like I've gotten a V day present for the past week for the most part since she's been at my place since last Thursday ^_^ so not only presents but I got to wake up to her every day... *GLEE*
Mood: HAPPY / bummed Listening: Strapping Young Lad - The New Black
2/12/2007 - Xbox Live: Old Spice Challenge Today opens up the "Old Spice Experience Challenge" (Click here for details and to sign up). Three prize tiers and the only thing you have to do is up your Gamerscore points by 1,500 in 2 months. Prizes aren't all that great but if this is a success then hopefully we'll see more contests like this! Edit: Site is still not live =P Edit: 2/14 - Sites live but hard to understand, easiest way to register is to sign out of your web passport account, sign back in saying "do not remember either" and log back out, then go to the rewards page, hit sign in, but then pay attention to the left frame on that page, you must REGISTER and then sign in, good to go! EDIT - 2/15: Thanks to a catch my boss made, you must also click on the challenge and then click on the join button, you MUST let each page during this step fully load before proceeding or it will error out.
Mood: Stoked (EDIT: ANNOYED) Listening: nothing
2/11/2007 - 10K Club Finally broke 10k in Xbox 360 gamerscore points =P
"Cormyre had to choose between watching TV and playing with me and I am happy to say I won... this time... Gamerscore is at 10037 points. That is a gain of 260 points over last time! Did you ever think this day would come? The 10k club! That is a one followed by four zeros! 10,000!! Count them! He played Gears of War acquiring an amazing 8 achievements, Oblivion adding 2 achievements, Astropop, Bejeweled 2, and I think there was some random Live Marketplace browsing, but I wasn't paying attention."
Also with Amanda and Jerimiah signing up xbox live accounts I decided to make them stat pages like my own Amanda (Syndelin) and Jerimiah (The Third End).
Mood: Tired Listening: Dane Cook
2/3/2007 - From the Cradle to Enslave Last night was the Cradle of Filth concert at the Newport, I'll add more when I get a chance ^_^
Mood: Stoked Listening: Cradle of Filth - Nymphetamine
12/26/2006 - Speaking of Addictions So I picked up a PS3 tonight.... funny thing that, you spend 600 plus tax, and what do you get? You get the system, one controller and normal AV cables. This is a system that gets bitchy if you don't have it to an HD set and they don't even supply composite cables?! By the way, an HDMI cable for the system is around 80, wish I had known that sooner... For the 600 you would at least think they could at least throw in a Blu-Ray movie to show you what your buying into... nope. I do have to admit though, Resistance: Fall of Man looks awesome, to bad its about the only game out to worry about =P. So if you have a PS3, add me to your friends list, I'm "Cormyre" ^_^
Mood: Tired Listening: Tony Hawks Project 8 soundtrack
12/16/2006 - Addictions Caffeine, Gaming, Girls... and Music... yeah thats a bit of addictions to have... so on to my current one since last week... Kamelot, godamn awesome band I came across on HBB. Simone Simons is just *froth* voice body and looks... to bad they don't have her in every song =P, and unlike most bands I listen to even the male lead vocals are excellent! But yes, check out the video... you all know I have good tastes =P
Mood: Tired Listening: Kamelot: The Black Halo
12/05/2006 - FINALLY! So yeah after two months of playing (51 hours)... I finally finished Okami (PS2). I have to say this is a deffinate buy for anyone that hasn't checked it out yet... I'll do a review tomorrow... for now bed... oh yeah and screw you Capcom for closing Clover Studios!!
Mood: Tired Listening: The fans on my PC.. annoying things.
11/29/2006 - Cradle US Tour

Mood: Happy Listening: Lacuna Coil
11/05/2006 - Music is life? Ok so maybe it's not but it plays a huge role in my life... so I threw up my playlist... like 110+ hours of music... and the tastes jump around quite a bit... I'm just weird like that... check it here. The Winamp playlist will have to do until I can throw together some code and make it all purdy transformable XML =P picky like that. In other news... 2 days until Guitar Hero 2!! FUCKIN' A!!
Mood: Tired Listening: Sonata Arctica - Reckoning Night
11/01/2006 - A Voice in the Dark
Tacere's new mini album is available today that includes 5 tracks that will not be on the upcoming full length album. I've showcased this band before, so if you remember the samples and liked them check out the new album "A Voice in the Dark" available Here, or check them out at their (Especially if you didn't catch the feature from before, since my blog area is kind of short at the moment =P)MySpace Profile or Thier Official site. Just one word for everything I've heard from them so far... friggin' Beautiful! ('k so maybe two)
Mood: Caffinated Listening: Tacere - A Voice in the Dark
10/30/2006 - Better to Reign in Hell! Should be called additions but thats what I'm listening to currently so... =P blah, anyway... started work on stat pages for Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2 (being that I have a 4 song Demo to tide me over until the game comes out in a little over a week =P) not sure I'll have time to work on them until this weekend with it being the end/start of a month (gets stressfull at work) so for now they are just dead links, I'll update when I get them completed. Now... for a 3 hour nap before I have to be up for work... I hate being stressed to the point of insomnia X_x to much bullshit running through my head and no one to talk to... oh well, maybe someday I'll find a girl that can deal with me...right?
Mood: Tired Listening: Cradle of Filth - Damnation and a Day
10/29/2006 - FALL BACK! Well I hope you remembered to set your clocks back an hour =P if not you may be reading this an hour before you planned on being up haha! So a few of you noticed that Guitar Hero 2 is listed twice on my "Upcoming Hitlist" section... this is due to it being released in a few short weeks on the PS2 and then again almost 4 months later on the Xbox360... I will have both... adding to my guitar controller collection... after achieving perfection on the PS2... the achievements on the 360 version should be cake... plus downloadable songs! YES, playing on Live against/along-with someone... hell yeah buddy!
Mood: Groovy \/ Listening: Cradle of Filth - Thornography
10/28/2006 - What the $&@%?!?! Tonight my friends... I hang up my uber-gamer hat... with Toys 'R' Us taking pre-orders for the Wii and the PS3 tomorrow morning... my ass should be there... but I for some reason don't care... here I've had my 360 broke for over 2 months... do I really care about that one either? no... who has time? What the fuck am I turning into? This past year I've moved into a new place... kept it clean, bought furnature... I now own a washer and drier... I've even bought pots/pans, silverware and kitchen appliances... holy hell am I maturing?! NOOOOOOOOOOO... unless that gets me in with the ladies... then... meh... I guess its acceptable... mwahaha =P <-- and it's comments like that that keep me feeling safe in the fact that no I am not ^_^
Mood: blah Listening: Blind Guardian - Twist of the Myth
10/27/2006 - Trogdor?!?! As we look forward to the coming of Guitar Hero 2 (PS2) we are blessed with the track listing of the bonus songs...
